Following a student athlete’s sudden death at the University of Oregon, the school has administered “emergency antibiotics” to her entire dorm, the Daily Emerald reports.
Eighteen-year-old Lauren Jones, a member of the acrobatics and tumbling team, died Tuesday from a possible bacterial infection.
Though the school isn’t confirming her death was due to bacterial meningococcemia, it started giving antibiotics to all residents of Barnhart Hall Tuesday night, as well as to student athletes.
Benjamin Gonzalez said he was headed for dinner when he saw a crowd of people waiting for antibiotics and learned he had to get them too: “They were all freaking out.”
